Introducing the Lone Worker Safety Awards

1. Overview

OK Alone’s Lone Worker Safety Awards make staying safe interactive and rewarding. At month’s end, each worker’s activity in the Ok Alone system is reviewed, badges are assigned, and a Safety Score out of 100 is calculated. Workers then see how they stack up against colleagues, other teams, and the global community.

2. Earning Badges

Badges recognize specific safe practices and milestones. Examples include:

  • Feature Usage

    • GPS activation

    • Man Down or High-Risk checks

    • Contacting a supervisor

  • Milestones

    • Completing 10 safe shifts

    • Achieving five safe weeks

Each badge highlights a worker’s commitment to safety and encourages continued best practices.

3. Calculating the Safety Score

Each month, a score up to 100 is awarded based on key safety metrics:

  • Check-In Compliance
Were all scheduled check-ins completed on time?

  • Location Monitoring
Is the worker’s location updating at the required frequency?

  • Shift Management
Did the worker start and end shifts as scheduled?

  • Reminder Responses
Were any reminders missed or ignored?

Scores above 75 are considered “very good,” and achieving 100/100 is possible with flawless usage.

4. Rankings and Feedback

After scores are calculated, workers are ranked:

  • Individually

  • By Team

  • By Company

  • Against the Global Community

Companies can view their internal rankings in the dashboard to identify top performers and those needing support. Providing regular feedback and celebrating high scorers fosters ownership and a positive safety culture.
