This guide explains how to configure your SPOT X device for full integration with Ok Alone. You’ll link the device via SPOT’s Data Push, create Ok Alone contacts and predefined messages, sync the settings to your SPOT X, and learn how drivers use these messages to start and end shifts or request help.
Prerequisite: Link SPOT via Data Push
Before you begin, follow the steps in Link SPOT to Ok Alone with SPOT’s Data Push to configure Data Push and add your device’s ESN to a worker’s profile in Ok Alone. Once that is complete, return here to set up your SPOT X-specific settings.

The SPOT X has several buttons you’ll use for Ok Alone functions:
-
Select Button (Main Menu): Navigates the SPOT X menu.

Within Contact Settings, click My Contacts.
-
-
Create a New Contact
-
Click Create Contact.

3. Set Up Message Profiles
To use Ok Alone features, you must edit predefined messages so that each button press sends the correct command (using your worker’s PIN).
-
Open “Message Profile Settings”
-
Still under Edit Settings, click Message Profile Settings.
-
-
Edit Predefined Messages
-
Click Predefined Messages. You’ll see a list of existing messages—edit three of them for Ok Alone:
-
End Shift Message
-
Replace one predefined message with:
[Worker PIN] end
• Example: “123456 end”
-
Set the contact to Ok Alone (created above).
-
Save.
-
-
Check In (Start Shift) Message
-
Replace another predefined message with:
[Worker PIN] ok
• Example: “123456 ok”
-
Save.
-
-
Help/S.O.V. Message
-
Replace a third predefined message with:
[Worker PIN] help
• Example: “123456 help”
-
Save.
-
-
-
Messages can be entered with commas (e.g., “123456,end”) or spaces (“123456 end”). Ok Alone will parse either format.
-
-
Edit Default Check In (Optional)
-
Still in Message Profile Settings, select Check In.
-
Change it to:
[Worker PIN] ok
• Example: “123456 ok"
-
This ensures pressing the Check In button on the SPOT X starts a shift or confirms you’re safe during a shift.
-
Save.
-
Whenever you update messages, you must sync your SPOT X (next step) so the changes take effect on the device.
4. Adjust Tracking Intervals (Optional)
If you want the SPOT X to send periodic location updates to Ok Alone:
-
In Edit Settings, find Tracking Intervals.
-
Choose a preset interval (e.g., 2 minutes, 5 minutes) or enter a custom schedule.
-
Click Save.
5. Sync Your SPOT X
After making all online changes, synchronize them to your SPOT X:
-
Connect SPOT X to a Computer via USB.
-
Open the SPOT Sync Utility
-
If you don’t have SPOT Sync installed, download it from SPOT’s website.
-
-
Perform a Sync
-
With the SPOT X powered on and detected, click Sync (or Update) in the utility.
-
Wait for the process to complete—do not disconnect early.
-
Synchronization ensures your SPOT X has the new contact, predefined messages, and tracking intervals.
