What is a Monitor?

What You’ll Learn

What Is a Monitor?

A Monitor is the designated responder for a lone worker. Whenever a worker:

  • Misses a scheduled check-in

  • Sends a Help or Man Down alert
the system notifies their assigned Monitor(s) so they can initiate the escalation procedure and confirm the worker’s safety.

Assigning Monitors

  • Each Worker can have one or more Monitors.

  • Monitors are organized as steps in that worker’s escalation procedure.

  • When a worker triggers an alert, the first Monitor in the sequence is contacted; if they don’t respond, the next Monitor is notified, and so on.

Monitor Dashboard Access

Depending on their access level (Admin, Non-Admin, or Extended Privacy), a Monitor can:

  • View Workers’ shift statuses, locations, and check-in history

  • Edit assigned Workers’ profiles (Non-Admin level and above)

  • Create and manage escalation procedures

  • Configure check-in frequencies and reminders

Monitor Responsibilities

  1. Respond to Alerts

    • Acknowledge missed check-ins or help requests immediately.

    • Click Accept the Alert in the dashboard or via the alert message.

  2. Follow Escalation Procedures

    • Make calls, send messages, or dispatch responders per the defined steps.

    • Record outcomes and mark the alert as resolved once the worker is confirmed safe.

  3. Manage Worker Settings

    • Adjust shift times, check-in intervals, and reminder settings as needed.

    • Update personal or emergency contact information for Workers.

Best Practices

  • Ensure your notification channels (SMS, email, call, WhatsApp, Teams) are correctly configured.

  • Test your escalation procedure regularly by simulating a missed check-in.

  • Keep Worker contact details up to date to minimize delays in emergency response.
