Is my personal data safe with Ok Alone?

Yes. Ok Alone is designed with privacy and safety at its core. Your data is protected using end-to-end encryption, strict access controls, and secure data hosting in Microsoft Azure Canadian data centers. Ok Alone complies with PIPEDA, GDPR, CCPA, and similar regulations globally.

What certifications and security standards does Ok Alone meet?

Ok Alone is part of the Peoplesafe Group, which is certified to:

What kind of data does Ok Alone collect?

Only the data necessary to protect you while you work, including:

  • Location data (only during active shifts)

  • Shift, check-in, and alert activity

  • Basic profile details (name, PIN, group, monitor contact info)

  • Device interactions (Help button use, Man Down, etc.)

  • Optional shift schedule info

When is my location tracked?

Only while your shift is active. You control your GPS settings (High Accuracy, Normal, or Non-GPS), and tracking stops as soon as your shift ends.

How long is data stored?

  • Worker and monitor profiles: stored as long as your account is active

  • Location data: stored for 30 days

  • Shift and alert records: stored for 12 months

  • Backups: archived securely for longer periods to meet safety regulations

Where is data stored?

All data is securely hosted in Microsoft Azure data centers located in Canada. This ensures compliance with Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA) and provides industry-leading security standards.

Who can access personal data?

Only authorized users with a clear operational need. Ok Alone enforces:

  • Role-based access with three monitor levels:

    • Admin – Full system access

    • Non-Admin – Limited access

    • Extended Privacy – Highly restricted access

  • Unique logins for each user

  • Encrypted communication between the app and servers

  • Workers cannot view or access private data

Why does Ok Alone store data?

To enable safety monitoring, incident resolution, and legal compliance. Data is used to:

  • Respond to and resolve alerts

  • Maintain a full audit trail

  • Generate reports for safety tracking and accountability

How much data does the Ok Alone app use?

The app is very light on data usage:

  • GPS Normal uses around 250 KB per hour

  • Approximately 10 MB per 40-hour workweek

  • Less data is used when operating in Non-GPS mode

Can I access or delete my data?

Yes. You can:

  • Request a copy of your stored data

  • Request corrections or deletions (subject to applicable laws)

What if I’m not using the app — is anything still tracked?

No. Ok Alone does not track anything outside of your shift. It never accesses personal apps, phone activity, or web history.

Does Ok Alone share my data with third parties?

No. Data is never sold or shared for marketing purposes. It’s used only for safety-related functions and internal operations as defined in your organization's escalation plan.
